Audio Systems: Taurus dash panel, ford taurus, aftermarket stereo

Hi... I am getting ready to buy an aftermarket stereo for my '04 Ford Taurus.  I've been told it will be expensive because the dash panel is all one piece, including the air conditioning controls.  It's configured already for a 6-disc cd changer in the trunk, but someone told me that if I put one in, I will always have problems with the car after that because they will have to mess with the computer to install it.  Is this true?  What's the best way to accommodate this dash panel?  Thanks so much!

they are more expensive but still available.  here's one on ebay for 55 bucks:

as for the controlls messing up the car?  you may loose certain features like the chime that rings when you forget to turn your lights off, stuff like that but it wont cause physical "problems" with the car.
