Audio Systems: Taurus dash panel, premium sound system, ford taurus

Question
Hi... I am getting ready to buy an aftermarket stereo for my '04 Ford Taurus.  I've been told it will be expensive because the dash panel is all one piece, including the air conditioning controls.  It's configured already for a 6-disc cd changer in the trunk, but someone told me that if I put one in, I will always have problems with the car after that because they will have to mess with the computer to install it.  Is this true?  What's the best way to accommodate this dash panel?  Thanks so much!

Answer
The part you want is by Scosche Inductries;

There is a link on that webpage to find a local dealer.
Yeah the dash kit is pricy, but it works, and is worth it.
You will need at least a harness adaptor, and probably a bypass harness kit if the car has a premium sound system.
That just means that the Ford radio "brains" including radio tuner is in the trunk. If the radio antenna is plugged in up front, you should be ok. If not, get back to me and I can walk you through the whole procedure. The dash is not the problem with these cars, it's everything else. There is nothing to do with the computer though, that's GM that has recently done that.
