Audio Systems: Fujitsu Ten OEM cd player, toyota camry, cassette radio

Question
I bought a 1992 Toyota Camry XLE a year ago. The car came with the factory installed Cassette/Radio unit bracketed to a Fujitsu Ten cd player sans pocket underneath. The cassette/radio has two plastic blue connectors. The cassette/radio works fantastically; the cd player does not even power up.

I recently took the unit out of the console to take a closer look and found that the cd player was not plugged into the radio/cassette unit. When I plugged it in (it has 13 pins, I believe), display did not light and no noticeable effect except for one: the radio powered on fine but no sound emitted from the speakers. I removed the cd player wire from the back of the cassette/radio and the sound came back in through the speakers.

Any idea why the sound cuts out when I plug in the  cd player? Why does it have a noticeable effect if the cd player does not power on? For that matter, how do I -get- the cd player to power on?! :) Any other thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Answer
HI:
there was no option of a cd player in that year vehicle it was on the 1993 and the plug in the back of the radio was for a controller and audio eq that is the reason why there is no sound when you plug the cd player
