Audio Systems: 10 disc changer hook-up, factory cd, trunk of my car

I have an Audiovox ACC-50 10 disc changer in the trunk of my car.  It was there when I purchased the car and I have never been able to get it to work.  I am just not sure how to switch over to it, seeing that it displays on the controller that it is reading the disc i put in.  There isn't any sound coming out of the speakers ever.  Would it have been set to operate only through a certain radio station? (maybe thats a very stupid question)  However, I have traced the wiring back to where it all hooks together behind the factory CD/TAPE/RADIO and it has a box where the changer hooks into the original stereo and the controller wire generates from.  Any advice would be great!!

not a stupid question at all in fact that is how most of them work.  they  broadcast to the FM radio so turn the unit on with the controller and make sure there's a disk playing that you are familiar with and then start searching through the FM stations.
