Question -
my 2001 tahoe makes a buzzing ,crackling noise in the right front speaker.it continues this after the engine is turned off. how can i fix this?

Answer -
Hmmm, that IS odd.
For how long after the engine is turned off?   Does it stop once any door (particularly the driver's door) is opened?

Answer
Only sometimes, or all the time?

Here's what I'm getting at:
In my mind there are two possibilities: you either have a bad speaker wire or a bad amp at the radio (or a bad ground, or something similarly electrical).

The 2001 Tahoe may be one of the cars that had the option for the radio to continue playing after the engine turns off, and only really fully turns off after the doors have been opened.  If that sounds familiar, then you might want to check the wiring between the speaker to the amp... it may be a little dodgy somewhere and the crackling you hear is related to the speaking shorting or disconnecting/reconnecting intermittently.

Otherwise, you might have a bad amp channel, especially if it's not happening on all speakers (if it were on all speakers, that might point to a bad ground or power wire).

To test, I might swap the left and right speaker wires in the back of the stereo.  If it continues, but now in the left speaker, you've probably got a bum amp and it'll be cheaper and easier to buy a new one.
If it's STILL in the right speaker then you might have a bad wire or (less likely) a bad speaker component that's only intermittently defective.   String a wire temporarily from the speaker to the amp. If the problem goes away install the wire permanently.

Based on a colleague's experience with his Exploerer, if none of this helps I might also recommend checking for rodents or parts (bolts, retention clips) that might have sheken loose and fallen into the door panel.

If nothing fixes it you might want to have a mechanic look through the cars computer for any codes related to ground faults and/or possibly check for bare/stripped wires comming through the firepanel and door hinges.  Don't worry, I seriously doubt that you'll get this far.

I wish you luck and, should you not meet with success, I would encourage you to repost your question to someone with more expertise in car audio/electrical systems.
