Audio Systems: 1995 Ford Probe Audio System Question, sony cd player, man factory

Question
Hi, I have a 1995 Ford Probe. I am trying to hook up a SONY CD PLAYER, but I need to bypass the factory installed amp, how in the world do I find? I have not the slightest clue as to where the dang thing is. I'd rather find it, and install a bypass switch, then to rewire my whole speaker system in the car. DO you know where this is located at? Thanks so much.

Answer
To my knowledge (1977-1994 vehicles), you cannot [and should not] use a 'bypass' switch.
But since you used 'then' and not 'than' in your statement, it appears that you are planning to rewire it.
And that would be THE thing to do, imho.

Where an amp is located is a non-ssue if you are going to rewire the system [and you will indeed locate it once you rewire it).

Since that 'then' was likely a typo:
The gurly-man, factory, Probe amp (1993-1997) is located under the passenger rear speaker in the quarter panel and is secured with three bolts.

mmk? ;)

Jerry Mael
