This is either a mechanical malfunction - such as burned motor, hung mechanism - or defective optical pickup (including laser diode).

You can try a hard reset, but I doubt if that will clear it.  Hard reset is done by lifting power to the entire unit. If you don't know how, just lift the positive terminal of the car battery for 30 minutes.

CAUTION: If your set has built in theft-protection, do not follow the procedure above as disconnecting the battery will put the unit into theft mode and you cannot get it back on without going to the dealer for restoration of the theft code.

The unit may need to be replaced as repairs are very expensive.  Check at www.crutchfield.com for changers that are compliant with your vehicle.
