Audio Systems: removing the stereo from a 2001 jetta, coathanger, 2 pieces

Question
I just had my battery changed and now I need a code for the stereo so I have to remove it to get the serial number I need to know if there are any tricks to removing the stereo

Answer
No prob!  Just take a metal coathanger and cut the bottom part of the hanger into 2 pieces as long as they can be.  bend each piece in a U shape and insert them into the holes on either side of the stereo in the dash.  push them in as far as they can go, they may click into place once they're in far enough.  then grab hold of something on the stereo and pull.  the unit should pop right out.
