Audio Systems: Sony Stereo, system control computer, lightning strike

Question
We had a power surge (lightning strike) and now when I turn the reciever on it says "Protect" on the screen.

Answer
i dont know how many times i've insisted people use spike protectors to avoid these failures......more than likely, a few components in the unit's power supply are fried, and quite possibly (and probably) some of your 'system control' computer electronics are blown. this can be VERY expensive to fix, so unfortunately, i have to say that the unit is beyond 'feasible' repair. if you still choose to take it to a shop, be sure you insist on a 'cap' of how much you want to spend. a reasonable amount would be to stop at $100 total repair. any more than that, get another unit and be sure to use a spike protector, as a surge protector is way too slow for a lightning strike.
