Audio Systems: Cd player/ Ecplise in dash, ecplise, mitsubishi car

Question
My friends Eclipse car stereo just quit playing, while driving down the road. The 800 number comes across the screen, and thats it. Ive reset it a couple of times, but it just keeps coming back to that number, and nothing else, there is no cd in it either

Answer
Did you call the 800 number?

This is likely the OEM unit that is supplied by Mitsubishi.  The 800 number goes to the Mitsubishi car radio section of the company, probably, and directs you to a car install/repair place that covers warranty and service for these products.

The reason for its failure could be just about anything.

So, my recommendation is to start by calling the 800 number. If you know the unit to be out of warranty I suggest you try a local aftermarket shop for a replacement or repair.

To find units that fit this vehicle, go to

www.crutchfield.com

which has a very good list of compatible head end units from under  $100 to way over $100; just depends on what kind of performance and features you want.

PS: If the in-car system is an infinity package the 800 number will probably take you to JBL/Infinity in California for service related matters.

Hope this helps guide you to the next step.

Then, let me know if you need more.
