Hey thanks for the input. No I do not have an extra computer power supply and I wouldn't know where to begin on purchasing one. So yes I would greatly appreciate it if you could point to something cheap but effective. I'm not looking to spend alot. Thank you so much for the help so far, and I look forward to your response.

Question -
I have a sony explod flip screen head unit flushed into my kitchen wall which is wired to 4 3 pioneer speakers in my kitchen. Sounds crazy I know but I looks great. The problem I am haaing is that I connected the power wires to an adjustable universal ac adapter. I cut the end off the adapter tested the wires for power and then connected it. Im not sure where i went wrong because the ground is wired and i believe i have the power wiring write. When plugged in the head unit powers up, I can udjust the settings and clock and so on, but when I hit the source button and it tries to access the radio there is a power malfunction and the head unit screen start blinking. It then no longer will function. Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry that I bringing you a non typical issue, and hopefully you can help out. Thanks

cool. application!
A power adapter probably doesnt put out enough current for this so when you put a demand on it, it malfunctions. the strongest "brick" power adapters put out 1,200 milliamps and you need a max of 10,000 milliamps.  I recomend to most people to use an old (or new) computer power supply.  if you have one of these laying around I'll help you to hook it up. if not I'll help you to pick one out.
Let me know!
Thanks!

Ok, if you want a nice looking finished off simple solution try is but it aint that cheap:

you can spend about 1/4 of that if you get a computer power supply, they're not as pretty and you'll have to cut 6 wires and hook them up yourself.  it's easy, I can help. This ones only 18 bucks and puts out the same power at 12 volts as the one above:

This one's only 30 bucks after rebate and its pretty nice and has tons of power

Good luck!

Answer
Sure, happy to help!
ok, on the computer power supply there will be one large connector and several smaller ones.  The big one should have a green wire on it (if not let me know).  cut the green wire right at the connector and also cut any one of the multiple black wires on this connector.  plug the power supply in and touch these two wires together and you should see the fan in the power supply start to spin.  this indicates its powering up.  you can put an on/off switch between these 2 wires to turn the power supply on and off.
Now to hook it to your cd player.  The cd player should have 3 power wires.  2 for posative and 1 for negative.
On the power supply locate one of the medium sized connectors (should be several of these  but dont use the very small one) Cut the yellow and black wire at this connector.  the black wire goes to the negative of the cd player and the yellow goes to the 2 posatives.
Thats it!
Let me know how it goes please!
