Audio Systems: Bose cd player does not play, bose systems, timing circuits

Question
Hi,
My Infiniti CD Player does not play any CDs. It just say "Err" every time I load CD. It was playing some CDs before now it died at all. I tried cleaning with CD cleaner.
What can I do here and where?

Answer
Try a reset.  But, I give it only about 50/50 chance to correct for it.

Reset is done by pushing some little secret button in a tiny hole. You have to read the owners manual to learn where it is.

If you can't find it you can lift the positive cable on the car's battery for 30 minutes.  Then reconnect.  (Warning, that will kill voltage to the clock and any other apparatus that has timing circuits in it.  Also, some of the newer Bose systems have security/anti-theft lockout. When battery is disconnected the head unit will not come on again until you enter a secret code into the keybuttons.  If you have this system; proceed with caution; getting a lost code is really a bummer situation.)

If it does not correct after a hard reset you will need to either replace it or take it into a repair shop and have it repaired (repairs often cost more than a new head unit.)

But do not take it to a car dealer; they do not know how to repair auto electronic entertainment systems.

Hope this helps.
