Audio Systems: my amp!, fuse block, ring terminal

Question
hey mark, my name is cory and i have just installed my first amp, please note this amp is brand new and can only handle 200 watts. and yes it is a small car thats why.. ok so my main problem is that the amp just doesn't turn on, i have it all wired correctly i have gone over it several times. the only thing i could think of is the fuse block being too far away from the battery could this be it? please help me!

PS: i know as a fact the subs work and there is a power light on the amp that is always off.

Answer
the fuse being far away wont keep it from turning on, it may make it sound poor if the wire isnt fat enough but it wont keep it from turning on.  The amp needs 3 things to turn on.
1. a power wire going to your car's battery.

2. a ground wire goign to a GOOOD GROUND (ring terminal through hole in vehicle with EXPOSED metal.  putting the ground against paint is no good you must sand off the paint and lock it down tight.

3. a remote trigger.  the amp should have a wire labled remote or REM.  this needs to have posative 12 volts just like the power line but only when the radio goes on or when the key is in.   If you dont have the remote wire hooked up the amp will not turn on. If you have an aftermarket cd player in your dash it will have a wire labled remote as well.  just connect the remote from the cd player to the remote on the amp. If you have a factory stereo in the dash then I usualy recomend splicing the cig lighter wire since it usually only works when the key is in and turned on.  you can test this by trying the cig lighter with the key out and see if it doesnt work and try it with the key on and see if it does work.  if so just splice the posative of the cig lighter to the amp's remote and it should turn on.

Good luck!
