Audio Systems: installation of ham radio into toyota avalon, inline fuse, toyota avalon

Question
I'd like to install an ICOM IC2200 into my toyota avalon. because it has high-power, i was told it needs to be connected "directly to the battery" (I supposed this means fuse box.)

HOW?

What is the method for connecting to my fuse box? Are there wiring diagrams somewhere? What tools do i need? What connectors do i need? Are there standard parts that I will need?
THANKS!

Answer
No, do not connect to the fuse box.  Connect directly to the batter with a very big wire coming off the main terminal of the battery to the unit.  It should be fused with an inline fuse that comes with the wire link, or one you have added.

Use 12 gauge wire or larger.

And have fun; sounds awesome.

PS: If you must know a tool list you probably aren't equipped for a technical installation such as this.  But you will need the pliers, soldering irons, wrenches, etc. to connect the wire span from battery to the power lugs on the unit.  And you will need brackets or wiring harnesses to connect other circuits to speakers or other appartatus.

It is a fairly technical job and if doubt, use a pro rather than doing it yourself and blowing out an alternator or ignition security system (which will cost $300 to replace and reprogram).
