Question -
I am wanting to install a care stereo in my kitchen.  I haven't bought anything yet, just looking for the best way to do it.  What type of power supply will I need, where to get them and how much do they run? And any other advise you have to share.

Answer -
At first I ask why. But I think I know why cuz I like doing stuff like this too. Typically a car audio unit will take anywhere from 11-15 volts and require about 10 amps so anything that is well regulated and clean in this range will do. My favorate power supply has always been the PC power suply for a computer. They are very cheap, very well regulated and conditioned and can be very powerful. If you don't mind splicing wires and stuff this may be a good option for you. If so I would go to www.tigerdirect.com. They list all of their power supplies's rated cuttents. If you feel like this is a good option let me know and ill explain how to hook it up and make it turn on.

Answer
ok, all you have to do is cut the green wire and any black wire in the largest connector on the power supply (motherboard connector) and connect them together to get the power supply to turn on.  If there is no green then try a different supply or if it doesnt work try a different one.  you should see the fan spinning. If not write me back. turn it off by unpluging the power supply or disconecting the green and black (you may want to put a switch between the green and black so you can switch it off and on) now just cut the end off one of the Molex connectors (used for Hard drive or cd player)  cap off the Red and a black with 2 wirenuts so you only have 1 yellow and 1 black.  conect the yellow to the 2 power wires on the cd player (usually the yellow and the red on the cd player) and connect the black from the power supply to the ground of the cd player (usually the black wire)
That should be all you need to get it powered up!
Good luck and tell me how it comes out please!
