Audio Systems: Bose radio in 94 Infiniti Q45, car radio repair, infiniti q45

Question
My radio works for awhile on the FM channels and then goes dead silent. The AM channels work fine. The amount of time that the FM channels work seems to be related t the outside tewmperature. The cooler it is, the lonfer they stay on before eventually going silent. I can't get FM back until the car has been off for awhile. Does this sound like a simple fix? What kind of folks would be able to fix it? - a dealer? A radio store that specializes in custom radio systems for cars?

Answer
Hard to say if it is a temperature related thing or not.  What climate are you in?  Could be, for sure.

Could also be related to voltage level of the alternator and voltage regulating system of the car.  How long has it been since the battery was replaced?  Sometimes an old battery takes such a strong load it keeps the system low for some time until the voltages get stabalized.

I think you have a couple of choices.  One would be to replace the unit. After all, if it is the original unit it is about 12 years old.  Repairing it may just be followed with additional breakdowns as the unit is approaching its end of life.

Another option would be to take it in to a car radio repair/install shop and have them look at it.

Hope this will help.

Q45 is a fine car.
