Audio Systems: 2004 Mercury Sable Electronic Climate Control, electronic climate control, cd mp3 player

I have recently bought a 2004 Mercury Sable LS that came with a cassette player (they still made those in 2004!?!).  Anywho, upon buying this I went out and got a Sony CD/MP3 player to put in.  Little did I know that because of the integrated climate control to the stereo, it seems to be impossible to take out.  My question to you is, do you know a way I could get a cd player into this car?  Is there some kind of custom kit out there I could get?  I was also wondering, would it be worth while to get the car's climate and stereo system 'downgraded' to the knob one that can be taken out?  Thank you very much for your time.

there is a kit for that vehicle  but is going to cost close to the same cost of the new radio  
did you know that your original is not that bad
and that you can plug a lot of new devices to this radio  
like a cd changer,mp3 changer ,ipod,any protable audio device and xm radio
