Audio Systems: Car speaker sound., pioneer head unit, watt rms

Question
I installed Pioneer 4way speakers in my car, and a Pioneer Head unit, the rear speakers (6x9)s sound as though they are not funcioning correctly. They produce plentiful base when a guitar is playing most of the time and every now and then will sound fine when a kick drum is playing. But a lot of the time they don't play either sound that well. I do not have an amp, the speakers are rated 80w rms, 420w max. Do you know what is wrong?

Answer

No... but from the information given, I would say that:

1) You are expecting too much from the 6x9's with deck power. At that 80 watt RMS rating, they would like an amplifier with that much power per speaker.
2) There is a bad component (speakers or deck).
3) They are wired incorrectly.
