Audio Systems: removing car cd player, car cd player, plastic bracket

Question
The radio/cd player is not factory installed. I did not install it myself but I need to take it out. It is a Sony brand.  I have the face off of it but can't get the radio out of the medal housing.
Thanks for your help.

Answer
AFter market stereos are usually installed by placing a plastic bracket inside the dash. then there is a metal frame that attaches firmly to the plastic bracket.  when the cd player is slid into the frame it clicks into it and is not easily removable.  Some units (like blaupunkt) have small holes behind the face where you insert a special tool that releases the clips (tool usually comes with the unit).
If I knew what year make and model vehicle you had I might be able to dig up directions on how to remove that portion of the dash to get the screws out of the plastic bracket.  this is by far the easiest way for most vehicles.
