Audio Systems: Yamaha Receiver HTR-5850/HTR-5840, stereo speakers, customer service number

Question
Well the thing is when we have just the B switch on and the A switch off, both A and B still play we were trying to get just B to play but the switches i don't think are working correctly.

So could that just mean a bad receiver?

Question -
Everything works except the A/B switch on the system what i have is 5.1 speakers set inside and on the patio 2 speakers outside wiring is correct too but the A/B switch will not switch from one to another they all stay on no matter what. What could the problem be? A bad receiver?

Answer -
Dear Steve,

The "A" speakers are the front channel/stereo speakers; the "B" speakers are also only stereo speakers. Each is controlled by a separate switch, both on the front panel of the unit and on its remote control. The switches operate independently. So, to turn on and off the "A" speakers, use the "A" switch; to turn on and off the "B" speakers, use the "B" switch. If you leave both on, both will play.

Turning one on does NOT turn the other one off. The switches are independent of each other.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin

Answer
Dear Steve,

If the switches are not functioning, you have a bad switch, but not necessarily a bad receiver. Yours is a current model and should still be under warranty. Contact either the customer service number in your user's manual or go to "Customer Support" at www.yamaha.com for the location of an authorized service facility in your area.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
