Audio Systems: Cassette player ejects cassette at random, 2000 buick lesabre, buick lesabre

Question
I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre with the original cassette deck installed. I've had this vehicle about 2 years now. When I insert a cassette, it will be ejected at random -- anywhere from a couple seconds to a couple minutes -- it's never long enough to get through an entire song anymore.

When I first had the vehicle, it would eject the disk maybe once or twice an hour. Over time, it's gotten worse and worse - to the point it would be a miracle if it would make it through an entire song without ejecting.

Is there anything I can try -- short of installing a new tape deck -- which could reduce the ejecting? The only thing I could think to do was blow in it, but that made no difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Answer
You say the tape ejects , then talk about the CD ejecting. If it's spitting out both (had CD and cassette as many cars did) then I think you are best to replace with a new aftermarket deck. The cassette tension could be adjusted by a knowledgeable Delco repair tech, but the stereo will need to be removed and sent away for this kind of repair. You could easily spend the cost of an installed CD player fixing this stock deck, now 6 years old.
