Audio Systems: Getting Signal from the TV, satellite antenna, antenna input

Question
I hooked up my vcr but I can't get any signal from the tv. I can watch tapes just fine but I can't watch any channels while I am on the vcr screen. It is just the blue screen. This means I can't record anything either. The thing is I used to be able to watch the channels on the vcr screen. Then I moved to a new apartment and I haven't been able to get it to work since. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Answer
Dear Bob,

How did you connect the VCR to your incoming TV signal? As a rule, you should connect the incoming coaxial signal (cable, satellite, antenna) to the ANTENNA IN on the rear panel of the VCR and the ANTENNA OUT on the VCR to the ANTENNA input on the TV. Now the signal travels through the VCR, which is how they're designed to function.

I'm wondering how you get the video signal from the VCR independent of the incoming TV signal. No matter. Try the connection method described above and see how it works. If it doesn't, write back and please describe just how everything is connected.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,
