Audio Systems: Typical Wattage, radio wires, stock radio

Question
My CD player was recently stolen out of my car, and I ditched the stock radio.
The guys that took my radio did a professional job & unplugged everything... not damaging the existing wires.
However I found a new (unused) tape deck in my garage. The box says its 12 watts.

What do I need to get tunes back in my car?

Answer
The obvious answer is a professional installer. However, since you had the presence of mind to inquire first, I get the idea that you are willing to put in a zealous and careful effort on your part to do it yourself.

First of all ....12 volts can burn a car to the ground!!
Be sure to use proper fusing and use extra caution.

If you plan to do this yourself, go to Circuit City and get an installation kit and wiring harness adaptor for your specific vehicle. These are about $10.00 each.
Though you won't need to cut any factory wires, you will indeed, need a handful of 'belcap' connectors to attach the radio wires to the adaptor wires, some electrical tape and a wire cutter/stripper tool.
Belcaps cost about $20 per 1000 (wholesale), or about $3.00 for 12-15 of them (auto parts store retail).

Assemble the installation kit first and test fit it to be sure it will be ok.

Remove the Negative battery terminal from the battery before you begin. Be sure to have the codes written down for any power dependant systems you may have that might require them!!!. Check your owners manual.

Be sure that you ground the deck securely to bare metal on the chassis of the vehicle.

Once you are certain the connections you must make are correct, re-attach the negative battery terminal and try it out.

Sincerely,
