Audio Systems: Sony DHC-FL5D malfunctioning, sony dhc, volume control knob

Question
I have two distinct issues in the subject AV system I have;
1. My volume control knob on the panel reduces volume both sides-clockwise or anticlockwise. With Remote control it is OK.
2. Sometimes the system starts reading the CD/DVD instantly when you switch on. But most of the time you can hear the (5 Rack) changer keeps hunting and takes very long time to start reading the Disc. I have cleaned the lens. If you keep it on it is OK. Once you shut it off it repeats as above. I have also checked with dry-solder possibilities. Please advice before going to a repair shop.

Answer
Dear Sanjeev,

I've never heard of a volume control working in both directions, clockwise and counterclockwise. Use the remote.

It's very common when you power up a multi-disc changer fro it to search through all of its options before finding the disc you want it to play. This isn't necessarily an indication of anything wrong. It's just they way they are. I have an Onkyo carousel CD changer that does exactly the same thing.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
