Audio Systems: Kenwood KR V8070, dsp modes, bench test

Question
My Kenwood KR V8070 AV receiver just started making a surging kind of sound (at the unit, not throuigh the speakers) when I turn up the volume on the primary (surround) speakers.  The output level of volume is lower than previously and the surging occurs when the volume is increased.  The sound happens when a loader signal occurs.  At first I thought it was the CD player as it sounds like a spinning sound.  But it happens when just the radio is on, too.  This seems to happen when the receiver is set to one of the "DSP" modes (Jazz Club, Arena, Stadium, ETC), rather than one of the surround modes.

Answer
Dear Larry,

When receivers start to make noises, this is bad news. Turn it off and unplug it. Plug it back in. If it still makes the sound--which "sounds" to me like a malfunction in the output section of the amplifier, take it to a qualified repair technician for a bench test.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
