Audio Systems: 2001 honda accord stereo, stock radio, stock cd

Question
He my friends accord has a stock cd/cass player with a in dash 6 dic changer.  It isn't working. The stereo also has the securty system running threw it. I would like to get it fixed. Im not sure if I should buy a new stock radio or go after market. If I buy a new stock it wont come with the changer. Wich do you think is most likely broken the changer or the player. Because if it is just the player im good but if it is the changer i should go after marker.  Also how do you change the secutity code's if i where to get a new stock radio. And will the change stop the new stock radio from working if the changer is broken.

Answer
The changer has more to go wrong, eg. more moving parts. You did not say if the head unit still plays am/fm radio or not. There is a bypass harness you can buy to eliminate the security issue at the radio, allowing you to easily install  an aftermarket head unit. Many people ad ipod connectivity now, not bothering with CD changers anymore. I have sat radio, CD changer and ipod in my truck, and I rarely use my CD anymore. This is for a 1999/2000 accord, hopefully they are similar to the 2001. http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Honda/PDF/466053.pdf
