Audio Systems: Factory Stereo Removal : 2005 Mazda Tribute, mazda tribute, hook tool

I was wondering if you can help me with removing the factory head unit in my 2005 Mazda Tribute MS.  I have the Din tools and I have tried for about an hour and it won't budge.  Is there something I am missing?  Anything special about this model of Tribute?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Often the radio tools cannot push the release tabs far enough.  You may have to disassemble the dash more to reach in behind and release them with a hook tool. Sometimes just pushing the removal tools in farther can help. There is also the possibility that someone else has damaged the releases already.
