Audio Systems: Car stereo problems!!! Help me Please!!!!, dodge dakota sport, pioneer cd player

Question
I have a 97 dodge dakota sport pick up truck.  I have a pioneer cd player that was installed in the truck when I bought it.

Today my cd player messed up.  I will play a cd fine until i turn the volume past 10, then no sound comes out but the cd still plays.  I was working fine earlier today i had it on 17 i think.  Do you know what the problem might be?

Answer

If you bought all of this new in 1997, then the stereo system is probably just getting old. Nine years is a great life span for a  mobile system.
It might be the speakers or their wiring.
It is possible that some of the radio wiring has come loose, causing intermittent connections.
It could be the radio itself.
If the system is nine years old, I would just buy a new deck and new speakers and wiring, and have it professionally installed.
If it is less than 4 years old, I would get it looked at by a professional to determine the actual situation and offer a resolve.

My expertise is audio advice and consultation, not repairs, so I hope this is useful information.
