Audio Systems: wiring replacement exterior mirror, car electricity, auto part store

Question
Hi, Can you possibly help me figure out if the replacement mirror (exterior, passenger side door on a 98 Saturn)is faulty or if I am wiring it wrong? The 3 little wires and thingys that stick out the end of the replacement are not the same color as the original, so I am guessing as to which holes to stick them into. I do have the original male and female little plastic thingamajigs to stick the wires into, (with the inside the car one still wired into half of it well. But I wish the new one was already wired. Thanks, I am a novice, and also lost 2 borrowed sockets down the door! That is another job, I guess, to find or replace them. I have tried a magnetic thing that broke off while attempting to get the sockets. I also tries removing the door, but it only revealed part of the inside. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me. I guess I need to know if the car electricity can kill me while I am trying different wire placements, too. Thanks so much, Amy

Answer
Hi!
Seems that you got on deep waters uh.
don't worry, i always like safety, so that will go on first term, the car electricity is not as dangerous like the home or line, but is not to be overtaken it can cause skin burn or kill you only if you have heart problems and you get it in your body for too long, wich is very improbable just avoid wet hands while working, more to be concerned is the danger of fire and burns take special care not to touch any wire to the metal body of the car(ground) and never replace a blown fuse for a bigger one.
Respect to the wiring, nou need first to find the common wire in both places, the car and the new mirror go to an auto part store and get a test ligh (5 bucks) conect one lead to ground and test in the wires wich ones have power when you push the mirror switch.
