Audio Systems: No sound, crackling, vauxhall

Question
I was listening to my cd player yesterday and suddenly the sound just went off, i thought at first it may have been just the track sticking but there is no sound coming from the cd player or radio. There was no interference, static or crackling before the sound stopped. The unit itself seems to be working fine.

The cd player is a Kenwood (KDC-W4527), about 18 months old, and it is all new speakers, also about 18 months old. (My car is a '95 Vauxhall Corsa)

Any ideas as to why i have lost the sound so suddenly?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, Thanks.

Answer
Hi, most of the time when this happens is a sign that something is wrong with the speakers, remove your radio, remove the power harness from it and put it back, if the sounds comes back and shuts off again check for some shorted speaker or wire, if nothing happens, the output amp of your radio is dead. Replacing the output ic of your radio requires some soldering skills, if you dare to try go ahead, just remember to never put a fuse bigger than 10amps for the radio.
