Audio Systems: 98 s10 with sony xplods (10), ohm models, sony xplod

Question
I recently bought a pair of sony xplod 10" subs.  They set me up with a kicker zx300.1 amp, and I was just wondering if this is a decnt amp for these speakers, or if I should get one with more power.

Answer
It really depends on how well the 10's are loaded (enclosure-wise).
But generally:
If you purchased a pair of 4 ohm models.. no problem. You can then run a 2 ohm parallel array (4 ohms and 4 ohms in parallel = 2 ohms) and get 150 clean watts across each of them. You must remember that such decent amps are never rated on their 'peak' power, but rather, their 'continuous' RMS ratings which are much more realistic. The zx300.1 amp can pull near 40 amps (if it is ran into a 2 ohm mono load).

If you wire it that way, set up the amp level properly and they do not hit well, it is the enclosure that is the problem.

If they are 8 ohm models, they will only get 75 watts each wired the same way and the amp will draw 1/2 the current... so return them for 4 ohm ones!!
