Audio Systems: resetting my radio in 96 Buick Riviera, buick riviera, circuit city

Question
yes, I just had my steering column replaced, and the people that put it in messed up my lights on my car, well two days ago i took it to them and they fixed my lights to where they work now and now my radio says "loc" on it, and it won't do anything and they say that it wasn't their fault, so i don't know how to fix it, i was wondering if you might now what to do. Anything would be appreciated at this point.

thanks

Answer
It is hard to do what {a judge might say} needs to be done to avoid this situation when dealing with repair shops and collateral vehicle damage issues.

I am not a lawyer.. but I would tell you to take it back to them until you are satisfied. They will likely try to tell you that you cannot prove it worked when it came in (unless you can).
I personally do not think they have much to stand on since you 'likely' took it in (only) for the service it required. Your word against theirs, which is for a judge to decide in the end. The repair shops know it will cost $500 to even go to court.

Once you start insterting actual dollars:

You can get a very capable new head unit professionally installed for under 200.00 at Circuit City.

As to prevention:
Let them know what all works (in some way) b4 you leave it with another shop. even if you have to have a tech sit with you in the car while you show them. Explain your previous encounter and they will let you do your thing. Should you take a freind along with a camcorder?  Depending on the amount of gear installed in the vehicle and their values... Perhaps!

Best of luck, Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
