Audio Systems: sub and amp repair, rca plugs, amp repair

Question
I have 2 8" autobahn subwoofers and a 150 watt amp. Nothing special, just enough to give my music a little bass. Now I installed them myself and did not have any problem immediately but after some time one or both or the subs would stop working. I found that just hitting the head unit or dash would fix this problem so I did not worry about it. Now, only one of the subs will work and it doesn’t even work all the time. What do I do? Is the problem with the head unit ( a Kenwood), the subs, the amp or the wiring. I would greatly appreciate any help I could get with this subject and I am willing to go out and buy new equipment if you think that  the equipment I have now is the problem… Thank You for your help… Jonathan Spino

Answer
With such little info, I would recommend checking the RCA plugs and the grounds.
The headunits' output RCA's may be damaged and are intermittent in their signal they send. If you wiggle those connectors and it breaks up the signal, you will need a new deck. Hopefully it is just a poor deck ground!

Good luck,
