Audio Systems: Pulse Wire, volkswagen passat, vw passat

Question
Hi Jerry,

I'm trying to find the pulse wire in my Volkswagen Passat to connect to a sherrif ultima taxi meter.  Any ideas how I get to it or further advice?

Many Thanks,
Aarron.

Answer
Please help me try to define 'pulse' wire as you mention it?
I think I know what your saying, but I am not certain.

It could mean a properly fused switched 12V wire (that is, a fuse protected wire that is only 'hot' when the key is on).

This could be referring to the 'remote wire' (also called a 'kicker' wire) on the deck that is intended as a trigger to turn on remote accessories that already have constant 12v going to them.
*There are other ways of accomplishing this task from the actual car wiring, but the radio kicker wire is a good example.

It could be referring to things I am not aware of that are part of the VW Passat (itself) and of course, you should contact a VW technician/manual for that information.

From my knowledge of accessories, you should be able to use 'key switched' 12v power which can be found at the fuse block with a simple 12v test light or a Direct Current (DC) meter.
Then, the taxi meter would power up when the key is turned on.

I am not certain what you are trying to accomplish (as to when you want the meter to be powered up) but I hope this helps.
Sorry if this answer seems all over the place, but 'pulsed' is pretty vague in mobile electronics circles.
