Audio Systems: Powering a DVC subwoofer, mobile audio enthusiasts, voice coils

Question
I just picked up a 1042w from Infinity, and it has dual 4ohm voice coils.  I am aware that I can run them in parallel for a 2ohm load or in sequence for an 8ohm, but can I run them on independent channels?  Specifically, the sub is rated for 250RMS, but I'm aware that I won't hurt it by running it at 300RMS.  The amp that I am looking to use is a dual channel, 150W RMS x 2 at 4ohms per channel.  Can I run one channel to each voice coil and have it work well?

Answer
There are many definitions of 'well', but if each channel is driven by the same mono source, it is possible.
Be aware that at 8 ohms Mono... the amp will still send out 150 per 4 ohm channel (though combined to 300).
I would use the latter. That is, bridged mono into the 8 ohm sub (series VC array).
Also be aware tht DVC is not a very professional setup. Look around at the pro series stuff by JBL and Electro-Voice. They do not even market such a speaker for professional use.

But for some reason, many mobile audio enthusiasts seem to be drawn to them like magnets (no pun).
