Audio Systems: Power Drainage, kicker solo barics, dodge ram 1500

Question
I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500. I am currently experiencing severe power drainage. Dimming of the headlights, interior lights, etc. This happens when the system is turned up (not even half volume) and the bass hits. I know that this is a common problem but I am having little success in fixing it. I have two 10" L7 Kicker Solo Barics, two Kenwood KAC-7201 800 watt amplifiers, and a 2 farad Kole capacitor. These are the main power draining components of my sound system and my only amplifiers. I am using 4 gauge pos and neg wire to the capacitor and 8 gauge from the distribution block to the amplifier. The capacitor is within 18" of the amplifiers and the ground is no longer than two feet. I have recently upgraded my alternator to a 165 amp. I had the alternator tested after the install at AutoZone and it tested at 140 amps which was the highest that the machine would test. So I assume that it is working correctly. After all this I still have not solved the problem. I don't know of any other solutions other than a battery upgrade. The battery I am currently using is good. I have also read that when your vehicle is running your power is coming solely from the alternator and not the battery so the upgrade may not help at all. Any advice you can give my will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Bummer
Initial options are not to turn it up so loud or try some different power amps.
1600 watts is not needed.
You sound semi-fluent in this subject, but I think you may be missing an important factor.

You may just want to re-think your subs and get ones that are more efficient. Then (once they are properly loaded into a cabinet) you will not need near that much power to get adequate bass.
My competition system used 465 watts total system power (wired up at about 700). It hit 126-7 Db without the subs on and over 139 Db with the subs on. Each of the two subs only got 1/4 of their RMS power rating (or 250 watts each). This was due to the effecient speakers I used and the optimal enclosure for my vehicle and the subs. I used USA manufactured Hifonics and Autotek poweramps. I cannot begin to tell you how may one and two kilowatt systems I blew out of the competition using my professionally designed/built/tweaked/ran system.
I hope this sheds some light on your problem. Ohms law will not bend to allow what we want.
