Audio Systems: In dash CD changer, salvage yard, car audio shop

Question
I hope to repair a 6-CD Honda in dash changer and use it in my 2000 Camry.  No surprise that the plugs for the Camry installation are not compatible with the Honda changer.  Does anyone make an adapter harness that would connect the Toyota harness with the Honda unit?  If that's not an option, where do I find another plug for the Honda unit that I can wire to the Camry harness?

Answer
Hi Mike,

While I will not say one does not exist, you probably will not find a direct Toyota to Honda adaptor. One could be fabricated (for a price) by any reputable car audio shop.
As to finding a used set of plugs, a 'U-Wrench-It' type of salvage yard would very likely have them in a vehicle that you can obtain after cutting them out of the dash.

*I must point out that I would NOT repair ANY cd unit.. 6 disk or not. I totally understand your zeal to use what you have available, but it all stems from that 1st part you mentioned about 'hoping to repair it'. The Honda to Toyota interface effort only makes me wince even more.
MY best advice would be to go spend about $100.00 USD at Walmart or Circuit City on a new indash am/fm/cd/MP3/CD-R/CD-RW deck with the harness adaptor and the install kit.
Depending on the MP3 encoding rate, this will allow you to play up to 256 MP3's from a single cd (I am generally able to burn about 125 to a CD @ 160k bitrate) which can be made on a PC wiht a cd burner.  You cannot come close to that amount of listening time by using 6 normal cd's, it WILL work with no need of repair, and it WILL have a gaurantee.
