Audio Systems: Truck Speaker, new radio, news wires

I just installed a new radio in my truck.  No sound is coming out of the speaker until the volume is turned all the way up, then the speaker is blasting.  This this a problem with the radio or the speaker.

This is pretty vague, but I will try to shed some light on this.
Likely, it is the speaker voice coil.
But it may also be the wiring from the head unit to the speaker.
In short, I would try a new speaker 1st, but I always run news wires for new speakers ;)
