Audio Systems: cd radio for 2000 nissan xterra, durabrand cd player, nissan xterra

Question
I just got the bad news that a stuck cd means either $150 for nissan to SEE if they can repair my head unit or time for an all new one.

I've always stuck with stock models (yes I know, beat me now), and am not looking to spend alot of money on a replacement. I like a radio with larger buttons, as it is easier for me to use on the road. i know a remote will probably get lost, but i am willing to deal with it if need be, but prefer not to. Need am/fm/cd with at least 6 radio presets.

Any suggestions for a decent unit under $250?

thanks

Answer
150.00   No wonder people go to stereo stores, eh !!  wow

There are many units available under 250.00. The real issue is how well it will play in that Xterra (as in not skipping as you go over bumps).

Many of the Pioneer/JVC/Kenwood models are available for under 250.00.
I just got my girlfriend a Durabrand CD player (for her van) from walmart for $80.00. It skips occasionally on large bumps, but we can live with that AND if it ever dies it is not that expensive to replace. It has basic functions and is easy to use.

So, there you have it. You may want to go to walmart and look at what they have (they carry many brands). Of course, you are free to go anywhere, but you might stop in somewhere and look around.
