Audio Systems: radio antenna reception, jeep grand cherokee, 2005 jeep grand cherokee

Question
I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory stereo.  When the car key is turned on, my radio reception is horrible.  Both FM and AM are mostly static.  I pick up maybe 3 or 4 FM and no AM stations but should be picking up much more.  My car has a feature that keeps the radio on after you turn the key off until the door is opened.  As soon as you turn the key off, the reception instantly is much better and I pick up lots more stations.  Then if you turn the key back on, even before cranking the engine, the radio is all static.  Seems like the antenna shuts down as soon as the key is turned to the on position.   Would appreciate any help.

Answer
Jeff,

it sounds like something with the start up process is interferring with the radio reception it could be something like your fuel pump since it is one of the things that powers up when you turn the key to the ON position , either way since your vehicle is new it should be covered under your warranty so i would make an appointment at your local dealer for them to take care of it , it could be a problem with some wire shielding oryou might be picking up feedback from a ground that is shared... hope this helps you out

thanks
