Audio Systems: Car Radio Station presets are gone, inline fuse, toyota corolla

Question
I have a 93 Toyota Corolla with the original AM/FM radio (no CD or tape player) I never had a problem with it, until today after starting the car.

I noticed that all of the AM/FM station presets were lost. What would possible cause this to happen?

The radio still works fine, but I am puzzled as to why this would happen, and if it means there is a short or electrical problem.

Answer
Kevin,

have you recently disconnected your battery, had it changed with a new one or anything of the such this will cause presets to be lost... now other possibility is a bad 12 volt constant wire or a bad connection with your battery terminal so clean your terminals really good and make sure they are secure... if still have the problem its either with the 12v constant wire or an internal failure on the radio unit itself... if you have a test light or a volt ohm metere probe the harness connector to find the "live wire" wiggle them as you check to make sure incause the wire is loose, once you find it get a splice connector and run a new wire from the radio unit to the positive battery post i recommend using an inline fuse atleast 20 amps for this ... but should cure your problem... hope this helps you out

thanks
