Audio Systems: Nakamichi CD-400, nakamichi cd 400, car unit

Hello there!
I have a Nakamichi CD player with the above referenced model. I had had it for less than a year when it started to stop playing CD each time it was played for more than about 4 minutes. It looks like once it gets hot, it will stop reading the CD. Do you know what might be the problem? I tried calling the Nakamichi service center but they are charging arm & leg to fix it. Please advise!

i'm getting alot of questions like this lately, first i must consider it being a car unit, which then brings up a point, are you using your heater when this happens? mine will show overheated if i use much heat. as long as i don't let my heater ducts get really warm, i can use mine as much as i want. i recommend insulating heater ducts around stereo as much as possible. i don't think there's anything wrong with yours or mine other than very poor design by the manufacturer. sorry, but to the best of my knowledge, that's all you can do, other than mounting a small fan behind stereo, and there's no room to do that. i'd try insulation.......
