Audio Systems: Bose CD failer, nissan bose, scada systems

Question
Hello Jerry, It seem that everybody that has a Nissan Bose combo setup with CD, AM/FM, casset. pre-amp, and the problem isn't limited soley to one auto manufacture.

Problem: The CD failer to play any music CD.  I know that 90% of the problem is machanical.  Also, it is almost impossible to repair these CD drives because of all the surface mounted components and maylar film tracings.

This isn't my field of expertise here.  I'm an old electrical engineer and my line is with power distribution, and SCADA systems.

You help would be greatly appreciated fixing this damn CD drivers for this Bose radios.  If not, then I shall throw them away and install one that will work.  Thank you, Richard Morris, Farmington, New Mexico, USA.

Answer

I have no doubt that the problem is not limited soley to anything (except Bose).

I really would go with the latter idea.
Not only will you have a functioning CD system, it will have a fresh warranty. Even if you can repair the old one, it may fail in a different place the next day due to normal wear and tear, vibrations and age. By the time you locate a flow chart and schematic, you would have been able to buy a basic NEW in dash CD-W/MP3 player with 45 watts to 4 channels.

Many people think that Bose 'mobile audio' is the 'end all' (and nearly as many do not realise that the only way to get a high quality, long lasting system is to have it done by an aftermarket proffesional that you trust).
I fully blame it on Bose bastardising their fine home audio name for the sake of $$$.

Throw the existing system as far as possible and start over.
