Audio Systems: 2004 chevy avalanche, chevy avalanche, electrical fires

Question
2004 Chevy Avalanche. The original plug that hooks into the factory radio, I clipped it to hard wire my aftermarket radio. It wouldn't work, I couldn't find the right wires to hook it up to, so, I rewired it back and plugged the factory stereo in and it doesn't work. I put the same wires back together. how cam I get the factory stereo to work again or how can I get the aftermarket radio to work?

Answer
You should have NEVER cut the wires.. they make harness adaptors and they are like 9$ (and they come with a schematic to ID the wires)!

Now you may need a pro to deal with it.  (insert massive $$$ signs).

It is hard to say what happened, but at this point I would simply run a custom power(12v switched with key), memory(constant 12v) and ground wire.

This will run you well over 40.00 at a shop.

Of course you can do this yourself with a 12v test light, some wire and fuses.
Wire the decks' ground directly to the vehicle chassis.

If it does not work, test the head unit out of the vehicle.

**Be careful!!!
Electrical fires in cars can and do burn them to the ground.
