Audio Systems: Alpine CDE-7856 display, pushing buttons, honda civic

Hi Garry

I recently bought a Honda Civic DX (used) with the above mentioned after market stereo.  Everything seems to work fine (though I can't always tell - but the sound is good and I can switch to the radio or CD, mostly by just pushing buttons) but the display is broken up - all of the numbers are incomplete....I purchased another faceplate thinking that was the problem and the same thing is happening.  Is there any hope for the unit or should I think about replacing it?

only thing i can suggest is look at the pins on the unit where faceplate plugs in and make sure none are bent, it also might be a good idea to get a can of electronic contact cleaner and lightly spray contacts before attaching faceplate. if this doesn't help, there's something wrong with the unit, and you will have to get it serviced somewhere.
