Audio Systems: 1987 Honda civic si stereo replacement, honda civic si, honda civic

Question
I am replacing an am/fm cassette with a newer
am/fm cd made by Koss in my 1987 Honda Civic si.
So far, I have power, but the memory does'nt work, and CD's will not play. When I put the disk in it accepts it, but the LED says "disk".

Can you help me figure out the wiring? I have 2 "extra" wires (purple) and I'm sure I've got something crossed

Thanks

Answer

I know having a new stereo is exciting, but to be honest, for about $40-50 USD you can have it professionally installed and they should guarantee the wiring for the life of the vehicle. It will be done correctly and no one has to 'walk you through' any of this.
Most importantly, if you have it priofessionally installed, you will very likely NOT burn the vehicle to the ground on accident! This is only one of many very real issues for novice installers.

If you choose the walk-through:
Try reposting this to this expert. He does very good walk-throughs and may be able to help you decipher the wiring for both the vehicle and the radio.
