Audio Systems: Pioneer cd tuner- no sound, car cd tuner, pioneer cd

Question
I have a pioneer car cd tuner, when i connect it there is no sound coming from it, but when i connect an amp through the pre-outs the sound work, i think there might be something wrong with the internal amp or i heard maybe the sound IC is gone, but i don't know what is really wrong, Can you help please

Answer
Thushanth,
The problem may be that one or more of the speaker wires became grounded and this caused the audio output amp IC/s to burn up. A quick test to see what if any amps are faulty is to measure the DC voltage on each speaker wire. With the black lead to the chassis, measure each speaker wire, you measure about 5-6 volts DC on each speaker wire. If any measure 0 or 12 volts then the output amp is fried.
