Audio Systems: Radio Removal, rover radio, ford radio

Question
I am trying to remove a R660 rover radio from my Rover 220 (1997)to check serial no. I have a pair of 'standard' removal clips that I have had for quite a few years and used a few times before on other radios. I am using the usual procedure (inserting clips to till they click, pulling sideways and outwards) but the radio will just not budge, even with some forcefull pulling and 'jiggling'. What I am I doing wrong ?Have you any suggestions please ? Thankyou

Answer
Steve,
I don't have a book for this type of vehicle so I don't know what type of stereo your vehicle has in it. If the stereo has two small holes on each side it may be a Ford radio. I have seen on some stereos that the small holes are for show and the radio/stereo is actually held into the dash with screws. If you are not sure you may want to call or visit your local rover dealer and ask the service dept how to pull out the stereo.
