Audio Systems: 40 TV, toshiba repair, surge suppressor

Hello, I have a Toshiba TV model TW40X81 HDTV and lastnigh there was a storm w/thunders in katy TX and my tv just went black when one of them came down prettly close, then the power came back and I can see the red light for power, but nothing else...also there was a burned smell right after the black out. What could it be?...what are my options...thanks.

Dear Johel,

Sounds to me like a current surge from the electrical storm fried your TV. Take it in to an authorized Toshiba repair facility for a diagnosis--but my guess is that it's toast, and you're in the market for a new TV.

Did you use a surge suppressor on the TV? If not, next time do so. The current surge will fry the suppressor but leave your TV intact.
