Audio Systems: 2000 Ford Winstar Radio/Cass/CD, 2000 ford winstar, support circuits

Tom, The problem I'm having is when I use the CD player it works fine for a while then the radio will change to the tuner on its own. Also when listining to the radio it will change from FM1 to FM2 on its own. When I turn the radio Off after a short time (20-60 seconds) the radio will turn itself back on. Is there a connector I need to reseat or a specific ground that needs attention to solve this mystery? This system also has the rear controls for the system. I have turned them off.

Tom,
To troubleshoot this problem you will need to unplug the rear controls from the back of the stereo. If the stereo still acts up the fault may be with the front panel control processor and/or support circuits. On a few of these stereos I have found defective solder connections on the front panel circuit board that would make the stereo do all kinds of strange things.
